A popular tween series will return for a third season, with Disney Channel announcing today that it has renewed “Andi Mack.”

Cast members Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Lilan Bowden, Joshua Rush, Sofia Wylie and Asher Angel received word of the renewal this morning during an appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

The series is created and executive produced by Terri Minsky (“Lizzie McGuire”) and also executive produced by Michelle Manning (“The Breakfast Club,” “Adventures in Babysitting” and “Teen Beach 2”). Phil Baker (“Good Luck Charlie”) is co-executive producer.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer for Disney Channels Worldwide, made the announcement.

“A series about a girl discovering that her sister is really her mother was new territory for Disney Channel, but Terri’s honest, authentic storytelling allowed our audience to connect deeply to these characters and their journeys of self-discovery,” Marsh said. “What she has crafted stands as a high-water benchmark for kids and family storytelling around the world.”
