Report: Jeff Gaspin Leaving NBC; Also, Nancy Tellem Declines to Come to NBC

Nov 10, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Jeff Gaspin, chairman of NBC Universal Television Entertainment, is leaving the company, reports  Kim Masters of The Hollywood Reporter in a story labeled ‘Exclusive."

Gaspin, according to his official NBC Universal biography, "oversees all business, creative, production, distribution and marketing aspects of NBC Universal’s wide-ranging entertainment television operations." This includes all of NBC Universal’s cable and broadcast networks.

According to Masters’ story, "Jeff Gaspin will be departing NBC Universal in the reshuffling arising from the pending merger with cable giant Comcast, according to sources."

The story says Gaspin was on an airplane and could not be reached for comment.

WIth his departure, it means that NBC Universal’s top two TV executives–Gaspin and his boss, company CEO Jeff Zucker–will leave the company, when, as expected, Comcast and Steve Burke take over.

In another juicy tidbit, Masters also writes that souces "say CBS executive Nancy Tellem passed on the opportunity to take a major role at the company because Robert Greenblatt, expected to take a major role at the company, declined to report to her."

Tellem, who was president of CBS Network Television Entertainment, is currently the Senior Advisor to CBS CEO Leslie Moonves.
