Although neither “American Idol” contestant Adam Lambert nor Fox is commenting on whether he’s gay, the question remains whether a gay singer can win the popular singing competition, the New York Times reports. With pictures surfacing of a man resembling Lambert kissing another man, the question is arising at a time when Vermont and Iowa have legalized gay marriage and the White House invited gay families to participate in Easter festivities, the newspaper says.

Who cares what does that have to do with how great a singer he is?
I think this is an example of just how far out of touch the “establishment” and/or older segments of the population (of which I am one) is with the younger generation who actually vote for these contestants: they have friends the are multi-racial and of different orientations. They don’t care!!

Simply because he’s expected to win, he won’t. He’s getting more arrogant on stage, and the judges are fawning over him. The voting public loves to go for the underdog in those circumstances and they will. Lambert will get knocked out after the Judge’s Save is no longer in effect.
Being gay won’t help with some portion of the voting audience, but the shifting of his confidence to overconfidence will ultimately do him in.
