Rick Sanchez’s Wife Explains His Rant, Says He Apologized to Jon Stewart; Video: Letterman Takes Aim at Sanchez

For those who wonder what made former CNN anchor Rick Sanchez melt down during an interview last week with Sirius radio, his wife has offered an explanation, reports TheWrap.

Suzanne Sanchez chalks it up to exhaustion. She also posted on her Facebook wall Tuesday that Rick had been trying to make a broader point when he put his foot in his mouth by calling "The Daily Show" star Jon Stewart a bigot and implied that the media was run by the Jews.

She said her husband has since apologized personally to Stewart.

Suzanne Sanchez added that it was the strain of working 14 hours a day for CNN that caused Rick’s faux pas.

Late-night talk show hosts, meanwhile, have had a field day with the Sanchez incident. Here’s a video of a David Letterman Top Ten List aimed directly at Sanchez.

  1. Sorry but if you listen to Sanchez closely you hear an awful lot of snorting and sniffing toward the end of the interview. Sounded like nose candy talkin’ to me…
Aside from that. He simply is nor the sharpest tool in the shed.

  2. Mr. Sanchez was supposed to be a professional. He certainly let it be known that his Freudian slip is what was really on his mind. What we have here is another Mel Gibson disguised as a Latin broadcaster.
What a shame that what was a good man and well known, is really a bigot in disguise and it’s a good thing that it came out now.
This man should not be hired by any station, if they want listeners. Just another waste of space and certainly not the brightest bulb in the light fixture.

  3. Blah. Blah. Blah. He’s human. What is in your closet???

  4. My closet is filled with a whole lot of knowing what to say and when to say it, (or better yet when NOT to say it!!!!)
Plain and simple…Whether you agree with him or not, only a moron goes on a media outlet of any kind and says stupid crap like Rick Sanchez did!

  5. Interesting thoughts here. I appreciate you taking the time to share them with us all. It’s people like you that make my day 🙂
