Watchdog Group, Drug Companies Join Forces to Create Kid-Friendly Schedule for Viagra Ads

The Parents Television Council announced Tuesday that it is joining forces with drug companies to publish a schedule of advertisements for erectile dysfunction drugs in an effort to help parents plan their kids’ TV viewing, James Hibberd reports in The Hollywood Reporter.

The schedule is designed to ensure that parents can keep their children from being exposed to the ads. Eli Lilly & Co., which makes Cialis, and Pfizer, the company behind Viagra, are on board with the plan, according to the story.

“This is an important first step in addressing the concerns many parents have about advertisements for erectile dysfunction drugs,” said Tim Winter, president of the PTC.

Among the shows airing Viagra ads this week: “60 Minutes – Sports Desk” on CBS, NFL programs on CBS and NBC, and various late-night shows, including CBS’s “Late Show,” NBC’s “Tonight Show” and “Jimmy Fallon” and ABC’s “Nightline.”

  1. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  2. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
