"Two And a Half Men" creator Chuck Lorre promised surprises in the season premiere of the show to help viewers forget about Charlie Sheen and help pump up Ashton Kutcher’s debut. One of those surprises in Monday night’s debut was the TV resurrection of ABC sitcom couple "Dharma & Greg," reports TVLine.com.

In an unexpected cameo, the stars of that popular show, Jenna Elfman and Thomas Gibson, appeared in character to look at Charlie’s beach house, which was put up for sale. In a twist, the happy couple had morphed into bickering spouses. They were downright nasty and sniping at each other.

Chuck Lorre was the co-creator (with Dottie Dartland) of "Dharma & Greg," hence the inside joke. The series ran on ABC from 1997 to 2002.

Gibson’s character reportedly made a sarcastic comment during the “Men” appearance about a possible divorce, perhaps mirroring another once happy relationship gone bad — between Lorre and Sheen.

  1. The Dharma & Greg cameo managed to trump their old series in about 60 seconds.
