Fox won Thursday night behind another strong showing by “The X Factor,” TVbytheNumbers.com reports, while the news at ABC wasn’t nearly as good: The Alphabet’s new series “Charlie’s Angels” fell 20% in the 18-49 demo to a feeble 1.2 average rating, as the drama looks increasingly like a contender for early cancellation.

For the night, Fox averaged a 3.8 rating in adults 18-49, beating CBS (2.9 average), ABC (2.1) and NBC (2.0). Total viewers went to CBS by a slim margin with 11.7 million to 11.2 million for Fox, followed by ABC (6.9 million) and NBC (4.7 million).

At 8 p.m. CBS’s "The Big Bang Theory" turned in the best number of any show on the night — a 4.4 in the 18-49 demo. That was followed by CBS’s new comedy "How to Be a Gentleman" with a much less secure 2.5 average rating for the bottom of the hour. Fox’s "The X Factor" had a 3.5 in the same demo for the hour, while NBC’s "Community" and "Parks & Recreation" had a 1.5 and a 1.9, respectively. ABC’s reboot of "Charlie’s Angels" was in well down in the standings, tied with CW’s "Vampire Diaries" at 1.2 ratings in the 18-49 demo.

Hour two of "The X Factor" at 9 p.m. rose to a 4.1 in the 18-49 demo, while NBC’s "The Office" and "Whitney" had a 3.1 and a 2.3, respectively. ABC’s "Grey’s Anatomy" pulled in a 3.0, while CBS’s "Person Of Interest" had a 2.5. CW’s "The Secret Circle" trailed with a 0.8 in the same demo.

CBS’s "The Mentalist" led the way at 10 p.m. with a 2.7 in the 18-49 demographic, while ABC’s "Private Practice" followed with a 2.2. NBC’s new police drama "Prime Suspect" settled for a 1.5 in the 18-49 demo for the hour.

  1. I tried watching the premiere of Charlie’s Angels. I really did. I lasted 8 minutes.

  2. Yep. I watched the whole pilot and didn’t see anything that made me want to watch the second episode.

  3. They messed up on the casting. The original Angels were oozing with sensuality. Minka Kelly is good, but they should have chosen 2 other actresses.

  5. You can predict the failure of these “redo” shows, when they completely neglect the original Angels. I grew up on CA and wouldn’t have missed an episode. I didn’t even think about tuning into check this new CA out, due to the fact that the orginal Angels were absent.
In this same vein, I predict success for the Dallas remake, because they are staying true to the original actors/cast.

  6. Take it to pay cable, give it a soft-porn feel and it will do fine
