DirecTV Complains to FCC About Fox Ads

Oct 28, 2011  •  Post A Comment

DirecTV is taking its dispute with Fox Networks to the Federal Communications Commission, with the satellite-TV company sending a complaint letter to the agency about Fox’s newspaper ads and TV promos, reports TheWrap.com.

DirecTV is accusing Fox of running misleading ads related to the companies’ disagreement over carriage fees, the story says. The satellite-TV company specifically finds fault with ads telling customers, “’Soon, in some markets, you may lose your local Fox station,’ even though our retransmission consent agreement does not expire for over two months," the letter says.

Fox Networks’ cable channels may be pulled from DirecTV if a new contract can’t be worked out by Nov. 1, although a separate deal covering Fox’s owned and operated TV stations is set to expire on Dec. 31, the story points out.

  1. It is never good when you are talking about carriage disputes, especially ones that include big name television distributors. Last year DISH was going through this contract renewal with FOX
