A "Saturday Night Live" skit about Tim Tebow that featured a Jesus character telling the outspoken Christian football player to "take it down a notch" was slammed by televangelist Pat Robertson reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.

Robertson decried the skit as exhibiting "anti-Christian bigotry," adding, "If this had been a Muslim country and they had done that and had Muhammad doing that stuff, you would have found bombs being thrown off and bodies on the street,” according to the story.

His comments were made on the Christian Broadcast Network, where he has appeared for decades, the piece adds. To see a video of Robertson’s comments, click here.

The "SNL" skit starred Jason Sudeikis as Jesus, along with Andy Samberg and Taran Killem, and was set in the Broncos’ locker room. To see the clip, click here.

  1. Seems funny that a bigot would call a TV show bigoted.

  2. Hang on, his name was Taran Killem? Killem? It’s obviously a Muslim plot to kill people! I mean, it’s built right in to his name!
America. Full of religious freedom, so long as you’re Christian.

  4. Just once, I’d like to hear a football player blame Jesus when he drops a touchdown pass.

  5. Actually, the show airs on ABC Family.

  6. Ol’ Pat forgets how he fought so hard to make his media empire tax exempt in Virginia. It wasn’t a church then and it’s not now. Why not pay taxes like the rest of us you two faced chisseler.

  7. Please Pat. Give us a break. Aren’t you the guy who thought macaroni and cheese was “a Black thing”? If God created us then he also created our sense of humor. You give religious conservatives a bad name. Crawl back into you hole.

  8. The NFL gets a rare “positive” story and just about every media organization does everything they can to poke fun of it. Good thing most Christians have a sense of humor when it comes to things like this as opposed to radical religeous organizations where there’d be riots and blood in the streets. So save you hatin for the radicals essequemodeia!

  9. I don’t agree with everything Pat says or does. I do know that his one point is correct. What would have happened if Muhammed had been depicted talking to a football player on Saturday night live? Death threats would have been made to the T.V. studio and the actors depicting Muhammed would have gone into hiding. In fact, this is probably why no one would have such a skit involving Muhammed, because they know the backlash would be deadly. However, T.V. studios can get away with depicting Jesus because they know they won’t have any backlash other than verbal and written criticisms, which will quickly be squelched.
