MEDIA BUYER OF THE YEAR
Peter Olsen, senior VP and manager of national broadcast for MediaCom, New York, has been named TelevisionWeek’s National . (See page 28.) Mr. Olsen has the skill to understand the needs of marketers and networks, uniting both in win-win marriages that are the envy of the industry. We present this award on the eve of the 2003 Media Conference and Trade Show of the American Association of Advertising Agencies at the Riverside Hilton in New Orleans March 5 to 7.
FOX FAMILY VALUES
Fox debuts its follow-up to smash hit “Joe Millionaire” with the premiere of “Married by America” tonight from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. A second special episode airs Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. At the end of each of these episodes, viewers get to phone in and vote on which contestants will marry.
RATHER PROMISING EVENT
In the wake of his exclusive interview with Saddam Hussein and showdown with the White House (see page 3), CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather is expected to get a big hand Thursday from his fellow journalists when he emcees the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation’s 13th Annual First Amendment Dinner in Washington. The event will also honor First Amendment attorney Floyd Abrams, CNN anchor Judy Woodruff and CBS’s Susan Zirinsky, longtime executive producer of “48 Hours.”
