USA Network was the top-rated network in cable in 2006. In prime time, total viewership rose 13 percent and its ratings among viewers 18 to 49 rose 13 percent to a 0.9 rating, according to Nielsen Media Research. USA’s performance was helped by WWE Wrestling, which is typically one of the top-rated programs each year.
The network’s long-running “Monk” also continued to generate strong ratings and garnered another Golden Globe Award for star Tony Shalhoub. The network last year premiered “Psych” as a companion to “Monk” on Friday nights. The new show was well-received and will return for a second season.
