Disney Revamps SoapNet, Launches Online Ad Partnership

Disney-ABC has redesigned SoapNet.com, the home site of its daytime drama programming, and created a new online advertising network to capitalize on the revamp.
The redesigned version has added celebrity, beauty and fashion news to its soap coverage, which currently covers ABC daytime shows and stars. SoapNet also has added original video offerings and interactive community functions.
Brian Frons, president of daytime at Disney-ABC Television Group, said, “We have the unique ability to look at our world through a ‘soapy’ filter, so it is perfectly fitting that the new SoapNet.com is expanding beyond daytime soaps.”
With the site makeover comes the rollout of Disney-ABC’s Premium Publisher Network, an online advertising partnership between SoapNet.com and 45 entertainment and style-oriented sites.
The moves are part of Disney-ABC’s ongoing expansion of its multiplatform business and digital product portfolio.
“With the launch of the SoapNet Premium Publisher Network, we are offering high-quality, third-party publishers an exciting opportunity to showcase their sites and expose their editorial to a much larger, extremely loyal audience,” said Disney-ABC Cable Networks Vice President K.C. Estenson. “We are also excited to be able to provide marketers with the ability to be a part of the ‘long tail’ and expand their reach, while having the certainty that their brands and advertising messages will be treated with the utmost integrity.”

  1. The new SOAPnet is really awful. The new programming is sophmoric and stinks to high heaven. Disney should leave SOAPnet to soaps and show their “movies” and “original” programming on another of their outlets. The SOAPnet is supposed to feature ABC soaps and All My Children is only being shown for three hours on the weekend while other network soaps and the “new” programming is being shown over and over. I really do not like the Relative Madness nor the movies that are being shown over and over ad nauseum. Also, why is GH being shown in its entirety twice each weekend while AMC is getting short shrift? Please go back to showing a full weeks episode of each soap and only showing them once so all can get their fair share. Also, drop the really less than intelligent “Relative Madness”. It is too awful to describe!

  2. I can’t help but think that there is more essential points toward which we should be directing our interest and using our options. What number of publication pages are wasted with full-color images of numerous superstars, and just how much data transfer is burned on a daily basis by incessant ramblings of celebrities groupies?
