Bravo Plans Dubai Docusoap

Oct 28, 2008  •  Post A Comment

There may not be peace in the Middle East, but if executives at Bravo get their way, juicy reality show drama could soon be coming to the Arab world.
The cable network has teamed with Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey’s World of Wonder to develop the tentatively titled “Dubai Project,” a docusoap reality show set in the desert kingdom. Casting on a pilot for the project has already begun.
Dubai” will track a group of American and British expatriates, along with their entourages, as they work and play, pursuing the American dream in an Arab emirate. The potential series will track its cast members throughout all parts of Dubai, from its manmade beaches to its modern skyscrapers and nightclubs.
The new project is said to be close in tone to Bravo’s upcoming docusoap “Miami Social,” which follows a group of young professionals living in Florida.
Mr. Barbato and Mr. Bailey have had a long relationship with Bravo. The duo’s World of Wonder produces the network’s “Million Dollar Listing” and produced “Showbiz Moms and Dads,” one of Bravo’s earliest efforts after being bought by NBC.
Wonder also produces “Tori and Dean” for Bravo sibling Oxygen and E’s “Pam: Girl on the Loose.” The company is represented by United Talent Agency.

  1. Almost makes me wish I had television! Dubai is one of my top dream-destinations. Wish I could be one of the contenders! I hope the show offers an honest and peaceful view of the Arab world.

  30. Amazing freakin blog here. I almost cried while reading it!

  31. Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  32. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

  34. Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  35. Many thanks for the great posting. I am glad I have taken the time to see this.

  39. do you’ve an rss feed?

  40. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  45. Believe it truly is spot on, and now that we??? ve began the launch I’m asking yourself what sits forward of.

  46. When I look at your RSS feed it puts up a bunch of unformatted html, will be the problem on my conclusion?

  47. Good story. Will need a good amout of time to toy with the job.
