USA Network’s Revival of Canceled ABC Comedy Hits a Snag; Will the Show Wind Up Back on Broadcast?

An effort to bring a canceled ABC comedy to USA Network appears to have run aground. Writing in New York Magazine, Josef Adalian reports that the plan to resurrect "Happy Endings" is headed for an unhappy ending.

After negotiations and general agreements on financials, it doesn’t appear as though the comedy will migrate to the cable network, the story says. A USA Network representative declined to comment, while representatives from Sony and ABC Studios couldn’t be reached.

"All of this does not mean ‘Happy’ is dead-dead,” Adalian writes. “For one thing, negotiations can take radical and sudden turns, and USA’s refusal to comment might indicate there’s still a chance the situation will change and a deal will get done. What’s more, we’re already hearing other networks are mulling the idea of acquiring the show, including NBC and TBS. Stay tuned.”
