One of the stars of the long-running NBC hit “Friends” will play the lead in an upcoming ABC comedy. EW.com’s Inside TV reports that David Schwimmer has been cast in the ABC comedy pilot “Irreversible."

Schwimmer takes the lead role in the project, which is about an “eccentric, self-absorbed couple, and their trials and tribulations — most of which they bring upon themselves.” The project is based on an Israeli series called “Bilti Hafich.” The actor will also produce the show, the piece notes.

If the show receives a series order, Schwimmer will join other “Friends” stars in returning to TV’s prime-time schedule. Among them, Courteney Cox stars on “Cougar Town,” while Lisa Kudrow has starred in “The Comeback” and “Web Therapy.” Jennifer Aniston, on the other hand, has focused on films rather than TV, the piece notes.
