American Film Institute Names Its Best TV Shows and Best Movies of 2015 — Here Are the AFI Top 10 Lists

The prestigious American Film Institute TV Programs of the Year and Movies of the Year lists are out for 2015, and among the headlines, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” just hitting theaters today, was named one of the year’s 10 most outstanding movies.

The TV side is represented mostly by cable series, as has been the trend lately.

In addition to its top 10 lists, the organization bestowed an AFI Special Award on the series “Mad Men” for “its contributions to America’s cultural legacy.” The group noted that the AMC series, which ended its run this year, made the AFI Awards list a total of seven times, more than any other TV show in the history of the awards.

  1. What? No The Walking Dead? It was riveting this year, as it is every year. I call foul.

  2. I’m disappointed “Man in the High Castle” isn’t on the list.
