The list of the top 10 regularly scheduled TV series of the year in total viewers is dominated by one network, with CBS holding down five of the 10 spots. But the No. 1 spot is held by NBC, and as has been the trend in recent years, it’s held by football.

Here’s the Top 10, compiled by Nielsen (based on Live+7):

  2. “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS): 21.1 million
  3. “NCIS” (CBS): 20.9 million
  4. “The Walking Dead” (AMC): 19.7 million
  5. “Empire” (Fox): 17.7 million
  6. “Thursday Night Football” (CBS): 17.7 million
  7. “NCIS: New Orleans” (CBS): 17.3 million
  8. “Sunday Night NFL Pre-Kickoff” (NBC): 17.1 million
  9. “Blue Bloods” (CBS): 15.0 million
  10. “Dancing With the Stars” (ABC): 14.6 million
