Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning actor James Cromwell, known for his roles in features including “Babe” and on the small screen in shows such as “Six Feet Under” and “ER,” was sentenced to seven days in jail.

The AP reports that the 77-year-old actor received the sentence for refusing to pay fines related to his arrest during a protest at a New York power plant.

“Cromwell was among a group found guilty of obstructing traffic at a December 2015 sit-in at the site of a natural gas-fired power plant being built in Wawayanda,” the AP reports. “The protesters say the plant threatens the environment.”

The report adds: “Cromwell says he hopes that people can see the injustice of the jail sentence and that others may be inspired to join the pickets.”

Cromwell, who lives near the site of the protest, was nominated for an Oscar in 1996 for “Babe” and won an Emmy in 2013 for “American Horror Story.” He has also been nominated three other times for Emmys, for “RKO 281,” “ER” and “Six Feet Under.”

  1. You can’t put Zephram Cochran in jail!

    • They may try, but they shouldn’t be surprised if he vanishes mysteriously. The whole timeline depends on him completing his work…

  2. Another attack on Free Speech.

  3. He was not arrested for speaking, he was arrested for blocking commerce. No right to block streets in the constitution.
