Leonard Nimoy’s Old Show Gets a Reboot — and Even a New Spock

A show that was once most closely associated with “Star Trek’s” Leonard Nimoy is being resurrected — and once again, an actor known for playing “Star Trek’s” Spock is a key player.

The show is “In Search of …,” which Nimoy hosted back in the late 1970s. History announced today that it is rebooting the franchise, which last appeared in 2002 on what was then the Sci-Fi Channel.

Nimoy, who played Spock in the original “Star Trek” TV series in the 1960s and in many of the “Star Trek” feature films, died in 2015 at age 83.

This time around, “In Search Of,” which examines unexplained phenomena worldwide, will be hosted and executive produced by Zachary Quinto, who has been playing a younger version of Spock in the “Star Trek” feature films since the 2009 reboot “Star Trek.”

The new “In Search Of” has a 10-episode order from History, and will be produced by Propagate Content, Universal Television Alternative Studio and Before the Door Pictures.

  1. Excellent! I loved the show when Leonard Nimoy hosted. I’m looking forward to the new show with Zachary Quinto. He should do well. Now that’s what I call following in someone’s footsteps.

  2. It was a great show to watch back in the day. I think you can still see them on youtube. I think Leonard Nimoy would be happy.

  3. I remember when the History Channel was about… history.
