The people behind the hit CBS sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” were so eager to land Macaulay Culkin to star on the show that he had to turn them down three times.

That’s according to Culkin, who described his pursuit by CBS on a recent episode of the podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

“Although the actor didn’t specify which character he was being recruited to play, he explained that he simply wasn’t interested in doing the science-based sitcom — a decision that he stands by even though the show went on to become one of the most-successful series of the decade,” Decider reports.

The report quotes Culkin telling Rogan: “They pursued me for ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ and I said, ‘No.’” He said the pitch “was kind of just like, ‘All right, these two astrophysicist nerds, and then a pretty girl lives with them. Yoinks!’”

But CBS wouldn’t take no for an answer, according to Culkin.

“They came back at me again, and I said, ‘No, no, no. Again, flattered, but like, no,’” the actor is quoted telling Rogan. “Then they came back at me again, and even my manager was like twisting my arm.”

CBS eventually cast Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons as the two “astrophysicist nerds” and Kaley Cuoco as their hot roommate.

Culkin told Rogan he doesn’t regret turning down the job. “I’d have hundreds of millions of dollars right now if I did that gig,” he said. “At the same time, I’d be bashing my head against the wall.”
