‘CBS Evening News’ Gets a New Anchor as the Network Shakes Up Its Flagship News Programs

May 6, 2019  •  Post A Comment

CBS News unveiled new on-air lineups Monday for its flagship programs “CBS Evening News” and “CBS This Morning” along with personnel moves at “60 Minutes.” Today’s official announcement confirms the high-profile move that had been widely speculated to be in the works, with “CBS This Morning” co-host Norah O’Donnell stepping up to replace Jeff Glor as anchor of “CBS Evening News.”

Glor’s fate appears to still be up in the air, with CBS News President and Senior Executive Producer Susan Zirinsky commenting in the announcement: “We are grateful to Jeff Glor for his award-winning work and his commitment to both his colleagues and to our viewers. As we transition the ‘Evening News’ to Washington, we are discussing opportunities for Jeff to remain with CBS News and continue providing the same substantive, trusted reporting that he has been offering for the past 12 years.”

As we reported last week, the network has settled on a “CBS This Morning” lineup consisting of Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil.

O’Donnell’s new assignments officially make her anchor and managing editor of the “CBS Evening News” along with “60 Minutes” contributing correspondent and anchor of political event coverage for the network.

Additionally, the network announced that John Dickerson will report for “60 Minutes” and contribute to CBS News’ election specials.

  1. I guess I’ll have to switch over to ABC or NBC because I don’t like her. Sorry to see Jeff Glor go.

  2. Jeff Glor reported the news with humility and compassion. Norah is an analyst. Do not need more opinion news stations. Will miss you Jeff. Hello Lester Holt.

  3. Extremely upset that Jeff Glor has been given the boot. Really thought he could be a great competitor for David Muir. He has delivered the news with professionalism, compassion, and spirit. I really felt uplifted with his warm smile at the end of each broadcast. Hope to see you, Jeff, in the near future. ?

  4. Jeff Glor is an unbiased journalist. Noah O’Donnell most definitely is. Watch the ratings dive further. Way to go Z!
