After doing a litttle less than two weeks in the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif., in connection with her role in the nationwide college admissions scandal, actress Felicity Huffman reportedly wants to work with incarcerated women as part of her community service.

The New York Post’s Page Six quotes a source close to the family saying Huffman’s new focus comes after she was moved by the harsh conditions inside.

“Her experience is that these women are left behind,” the source is quoted saying. “They’re abandoned. There’s no support for them either in the institution or when they leave the institution, and that broke her heart.”

Huffman, who was already working with the Teen Project before she began her community service, reportedly wants to continue work with the organization, which helps young women who have been homeless and have been victims of sex trafficking. She also wants to work with women’s incarceration re-entry organizations.

“She really wanted to double up on her community service work anyway, and this is an opportunity for her to continue to do some of that,” the source is quoted saying. “This case really affected her in a big way.”

Huffman, who spent 11 days locked up, is expected to complete her required community service work in early 2020.

  1. The true test is if she continues after completing her community service.
