Major Cable System Makes 11th-Hour Decision to Carry OWN NY Times

An important distribution gap has been closed just days before the launch of Oprah Winfrey’s new cable channel, OWN, The New York Times reports.

Cablevision has agreed to carry the channel, which launches Jan. 1, the story reports.

OWN will take over Discovery Health Channel, which was already available on DirecTV and Comcast but was not carried by Cablevision. According to OWN, 85 million subscribers will have access to the new venture from Winfrey's company.
