The Hollywood Temp Diaries Web site announced today that it is accepting nominations to “honor” the worst prime-time television shows and performances of the past year. The Bennie Awards–symbolized by the Golden Trash Can–will be presented Feb. 22.

The awards are named after former NBC boss Ben Silverman, described in a Temp Diaries press release as “Hollywood’s king of bad programming decisions.”

Last year’s winners included Snooki (worst female performer), Jay Leno (worst male) and “The Jay Leno Show” (worst show).

A new category–The Pushing Daisies Award–has been added for this year’s awards to single out the worst cancellation of a show. The finalists have already been selected in this category, and they are “Better Off Ted,” “Caprica,” “Huge,” “Lone Star” and “Terriers.”

"Most of television today is either a glorified high school talent show, people getting hit in the groin for cash or product placements disguised as dramas. These shows deserve recognition for their ‘efforts’ and that’s where I come in," said Temp X, creator of The Hollywood Temp Diaries, in a statement.
