Report: Amazon.com Readying 'Free' Video Streaming Service for Prime Members Engadget

Amazon.com may be close to unveiling a competing video streaming service to Netflix, with Engadget publishing a screen shot of the rumored service that will reportedly be free for Amazon's Prime members.

Prime subscribers pay $79 per year for free two-day shipping from Amazon.com, which means the service would be cheaper than Netflix's Watch Instantly service, which coasts $95.88 per year, the story points out.

The screen shot advertises the Amazon.com service as offering "unlimited, commercial-free, instant streaming of 5,000 movies and TV shows."

The site notes that the tipster who sent in the screen shot of the service had the option disappear from his page and that Engadget wasn't able to find the streaming option in its Prime-enable accounts.
