Tight Race in Monday Ratings Ends in a Split

With a fresh episode of “House” pacing Fox and two hours of “The Bachelor” driving ABC, the two networks split a close ratings battle Monday night. Fox came out ahead for the night in the 18-49 demo while ABC had a narrow win in total viewers, according to TVbytheNumbers.com.

Fox finished with a 3.1 average rating on the night in adults 18-49, topping ABC’s 2.7 average, CBS’s 2.2, NBC’s 1.9 and Univision’s 1.5. ABC squeaked out a victory in total viewers with an average of 9.2 million to 9.1 million for Fox, 8.0 million for CBS, 7.5 million for NBC and 3.9 million for Univision.

At 8 p.m. "House" had a 3.7 average rating, the highest of the night, in the 18-49 demographic, topping the first hour of ABC’s "The Bachelor," which had a 2.8, and NBC’s "Chuck," which logged a 2.0 average rating. CW’s "90210" managed a 0.8 in the same demo.

At 9 p.m. hour two of "The Bachelor" was tops with a 2.9 average rating in the 18-49 demographic, over Fox’s "Lie to Me" with a 2.5, NBC’s "The Cape," which earned a 1.6, and CW’s "Gossip Girl" with a 0.9, all in the same 18-49 demo.

The 10 p.m. hour was won by ABC’s "Castle" with a 2.4 in the 18-49 demo, ahead of NBC’s "Harry’s Law," which had a 2.1 in the same demo. CBS aired repeats throughout prime time.
