Rumored to be the inspiration for a character on NBC’s "30 Rock," a cable news anchor tells the Detroit News that she was "constantly angling to get on the show."

Fox Business anchor Melissa Francis, said to be the inspiration for Avery Jessup on "30 Rock," said: "I wanted to be Jack’s love interest but I can see why they went with a professional actress."

Francis joined Fox Business in January after spending nearly a decade at CNBC. The character on the sitcom, who is married to Alec Baldwin’s Jack on the program, is stuck in North Korea and may not return, the piece notes.

"The funny thing is, I was supposed to go to North Korea for a story five years ago but couldn’t go because I was pregnant with my first child," Francis added.

Francis is a former child actress who got her break on "Little House on the Prairie," the story notes.
