Fox has pulled a prime-time series off the schedule for the remainder of the season, replacing it with repeat broadcasts of a freshman comedy, Deadline.com reports.

Christian Slater’s sophomore comedy "Breaking In" is off the schedule, with reruns of "New Girl" taking its place, the story reports.

It’s not yet known when unaired episodes of "Breaking In” will be televised, although it’s possible the show will return for a summer run, the piece notes.

"Breaking In," about geniuses who work at a high-tech security firm and break into security systems, got a reprieve with a second-season order after being canceled last May, the story notes.

Despite an overhaul, the show has been underperforming, with its second-season debut pulling a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49. Its latest episode earned a 1.3 rating, tying a season low, the article adds.

“New Girl” has been a bright spot for Fox this season, and with its renewal already a done deal, the network will try to generate additional interest in it with double runs — one fresh episode and a repeat — on Tuesday nights.
