With All the Buzz About Ann Curry Leaving ‘Today,’ Curry Has a Different Take on Her Future on the NBC Show

The focus on “Today” co-host Ann Curry in recent days has been all about her presumed departure from the show — including speculation about who will replace her, as previously reported. But Curry herself has a different perspective on her situation.

In the August edition of Ladies’ Home Journal, Curry says she sees herself on the NBC show for another five years, celebrating a total of 20 years with the program.

"I’ve been at ‘Today’ for 15 years and I’d love to make it to 20. I think eventually I want to become a teacher, like my father wanted to be, and hopefully positively influence the next generation," Curry said, according to the article. The issue will be on newsstands July 10. The LHJ article doesn’t specify when the interview took place.

As previously reported, NBC executives are planning to replace Curry, only a year after she became the co-host, amid a ratings loss to ABC’s "Good Morning America" earlier this year.

Asked about the ratings war with "Good Morning America,’ Curry said, "It’s hard not to take it personally. You worry, Am I not good enough? Am I not what people need? Am I asking the right questions? When people say negative things or speculate, you can’t help but feel hurt."

She added, "I know NBC pays my salary but I have never doubted who I work for. I think about the people who watch. They’re the ones who matter to me. I want to feel I haven’t dropped the ball when it comes to them."
