Two major marathons are planned on TV featuring the acting skills of Ernest Borgnine, reports our friend Hal Boedecker at the Orlando Sentinel. Borgnine died Sunday, July 8, 2012, at age 95, as previously reported.

Boedecker writes: "The late, great Ernest Borgnine will receive a 24-hour marathon salute from TCM on July 26."

Also, on Sunday, July 15, Antenna TV, seen on many broadcast digital subchannels, will run a 21-hour marathon of "McHale’s Navy," Boedecker writes. The Antenna marathon starts at 7 a.m (ET) and will air 42 episodes of the show, which starred Borgnine as Lt. Commander Quinton McHale. The popular sitcom originally ran on ABC from 1962 to 1966 and 138 epidodes were made.

TCM’s marathon will begin at 6 a.m (ET) on July 26. The lineup includes the movie in which Borgnine won the Oscar for best actor, "Marty." That 1955 film also won the Academy Award as Best Picture.
