Jennifer Lopez reportedly walked away from her role as a judge on Fox’s "American Idol" over money — and now a source is reporting that Mariah Carey’s deal with the show will pay her the $17 million that J-Lo demanded, according to TheWrap.com.

The report has not been confirmed, but a source close to the negotiations said the salary makes Carey the highest-paid judge on a television competition program. Fox would not comment on the story.

Fox is expected to announce the rest of the celebrity judging panel in a few weeks. In addition to J-Lo’s exit, Steven Tyler also left the show after two seasons and will be replaced. Randy Jackson, who is the last original celebrity judge, may or may not return for another season.
