MTV is so happy with a teen-oriented comedy series that it is not just renewing it for a third season but also giving it a hefty expansion on its episode order, EW.com reports.

"Awkward," starring Ashley Rickards, received an order from the network for 20 new episodes, the story reports.

The first two seasons combined consisted of only 22 episodes (12 in season one, 10 in season two). Season two is currently airing.

The series tracks Jenna Hamilton (Rickards), who’s living down the misconception that an accident she had was a suicide attempt. Other regulars include Beau Mirchoff, Jillian Rose Reed, Brett Davern and Nikki Deloach.

"Awkward" has been drawing an average of 1.8 million viewers a week in its second season, a 6% improvement from season one.
