Urinating in Studio Lands Comedian in Hot Water TMZ
A comedian and actor who has built a reputation for controversial antics may have cost himself a job with his latest stunt. Artie Lange, known for his time as a sidekick on “The Howard Stern Show,” was suspended from his new show by DirecTV for allegedly relieving himself in the studio and then insisting that the show’s two female production assistants clean it up, TMZ.com reports.
Lange subsequently sent out a tweet that appeared to indicate he is quitting “The Nick and Artie Show,” an on-camera version of Lange and Nick DiPaolo’s sports radio talk show that recently started up on DirecTV.
DirecTV reportedly suspended Lange from the show for two days, but sources cited in the report indicated he had not been fired from the show and DirecTV execs just felt he needed a couple of days off to think things over.
Lange issued a couple of tweets on the topic, writing: "Direct Tv has suspended me from the N&A show for the next 2 nights. They won't tell me fully why. Can't continue w them. Sorry guys. Luv u."
A follow-up tweet added: "Direct Tv are good ppl. I apologize to them for doing an offensive show. May do my own Podcast. Hope to see u all down the road."
Lange’s agent was more optimistic about a possible return to the show, telling TMZ: "As Artie stated, he is sorry for the events that transpired on the show last Friday. He is fully committed to working with DirecTV and looking forward to his return."
Lange’s tweets were reportedly quickly removed from his Twitter page.
The show’s female PAs, nicknamed “Twinsanity,” reportedly refused to clean up the mess, which then got handed off to someone lower in the chain of command.
