Freshman Dramas Get Full-Season Orders From CBS Deadline

CBS has given back-nine orders to two of its freshman dramas, bringing their season orders to 22 episodes each, Deadline.com reports.

The dramas are “Elementary” and “Vegas.” “’Elementary‘s’ pickup was a no-brainer as the Sherlock Holmes reboot has been the the No. 2 new series of the season among adults 18-49 (behind NBC’s ‘Revolution’) and total viewers (behind ‘Vegas’),” the report notes. “In the most current ratings (two weeks of Live+7 and two of Live+Same Day), ‘Elementary’ has averaged 14.3 million viewers and a 3.5/10 in 18-49, improving its Thursday 10 PM time period by 17% in 18-49. In total viewers, it is even with ‘The Mentalist’s’ performance last fall.”

“Vegas,” which stars Dennis Quaid, is an older-skewing show, but it ranks as fall’s most-watched new series, the story reports. It has been averaging 14.9 million total viewers with a 2.7 average rating/8 share in viewers 18-49.

CBS has already canceled one new fall drama, “Made in Jersey.”

The fate of the new CBS comedy “Partners” remains unclear, the story notes, adding: “The half-hour has been a soft performer on Monday though it stabilized the last couple of weeks.”
