A rap musician known for his appearances on a number of reality shows was arrested Wednesday in Las Vegas, CNN reports. Flavor Flav — whose real name is William J. Drayton — was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and battery, according to police.

The case reportedly involves Flav’s fiancee of eight years, Elizabeth Trujillo. “Police were called to their house on the city’s south side at 3:30 a.m., according to a domestic battery report issued by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department,” the story reports.

Flav, 53, was a member of the seminal hip-hop group Public Enemy before becoming a reality TV regular known for his appearances on VH1’s “Flavor of Love,” “Strange Love” and “The Surreal Life.”

The domestic battery report says Flav and Trujillo became involved in a "verbal altercation due to Drayton cheating on Trujillo," and after the confrontation moved to the downstairs bedroom, "Drayton became physical."

"Trujillo stated Drayton grabbed her by the shoulders, stomach and arms, and threw her to the ground two separate times," the report says, according to CNN. It adds that Trujillo had an earring ripped out of her ear during the encounter.

“At that point, Trujillo’s 17-year-old son, Gibran, began wrestling with Drayton in the living room of the four-bedroom, 2-1/2-bath house, Trujillo told police,” CNN reports. “Drayton — who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 131 pounds — grabbed two knives from the kitchen and chased his fiancee’s son — who is 6 feet, 175 pounds — ‘around the living room, threatening to kill Gibran,’ the teen told police, according to the report.”

Flav later reportedly kicked in a door and threatened to kill Gibran, the story says.

Flav was scheduled for a hearing today in connection with the incident.
