Report: Miley Cyrus Drops Out of 'Bonnie & Clyde'; Project Lands Oscar-Nominated Director TVLine, Deadline
Miley Cyrus has pulled her name from contention for playing the female lead in "Bonnie & Clyde," a four-hour miniseries in development for History and Lifetime, reports TVLine.com.
Cyrus had been in talks to portray Bonnie, and it's not clear what led to her decision to drop out, the story says.
Separately, Deadline.com reports that Oscar-nominated director Bruce Beresford has been tapped to direct the miniseries. Beresford received an Oscar nomination for best director for “Tender Mercies” in 1984, and was also nominated as a writer, for “Breaker Morant” in 1981. He’s also known for directing "Driving Miss Daisy."
The miniseries, which is set to air simultaneously on Lifetime and History, is being overseen by “Smash” executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.
