MTV Cancels Series

MTV is pulling the plug on a series after one season, Deadline.com reports. After a season of soft ratings, the network has canceled the sitcom "The Inbetweeners," the U.S. remake of an award-winning British series, the story reports.

Its biggest supporters, head of programming David Janollari and co-head of scripted Clay Spencer, recently left the network in an executive shakeup.

Aside from "Teen Wolf," MTV hasn’t had much luck getting a scripted series to catch on with viewers, with shows such as "I Just Want My Pants Back" getting a warm critical reception but low ratings, leading to early cancellation.

"Inbetweeners" was about four high school students who belong to the social class between the popular kids and the geeks.
