Starz’ "Spartacus" franchise, which will air its last installment with "Spartacus: War of the Damned" starting in January, may continue with a spinoff series focused on Julius Caesar, reports Deadline.com.

The spinoff idea is in the early stages, with "Spartacus" executive producer Robert Tapert overseeing the project. Tapert and creator and executive producer Steven DeKnight were responsible for the creation of the franchise, although DeKnight is busy with Starz’ sci-fi drama "Incursion," the piece adds.

The character of Caesar will be introduced in the third and final season of the historical drama, with the Australian actor Todd Lasance portraying him.
