ABC Casts Emmy Winner to Star in Comedy Project Deadline
ABC has cast an Emmy-winning actor and comedian to star in a new sitcom project, Deadline.com reports. The network cast Rob Corddry to star in the pilot "Spy," a comedy based on a British show of the same name, the piece reports.
Corddry is known for his work on Comedy Central’s “Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and for his appearances in a series of feature films including the 2010 movie “Hot Tub Time Machine.” He created and stars in the comedy series “Childrens Hospital,” which moved from the Web to Adult Swim, winning an Emmy last September for outstanding special class -- short-format live-action entertainment program.
On “Spy,” Corddry will play the father of an extremely intelligent son, who is also quite different in personality from his father. The dad, in trying to prove himself to his son, inadvertently takes a job with the Secret Service.
The British series' creator, Simeon Goulden, wrote the U.S. version.
