Jim Murray, Agent Who Worked With George Burns and Phyllis Diller, Dies at 85 THR

Jim Murray, an agent who ran ICM's offices in Las Vegas and represented stars such as George Burns and Phyllis Diller, has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 85.

Murray helped bring stars to Las Vegas, including Tony Bennett, Jack Benny, Florence Henderson, Tom Jones, Joan Rivers and Shirley MacLaine, the story says.

From 1954 to 1960, he worked with fellow agent Roy Gerber, the real-life inspiration for the character Oscar Madison in "The Odd Couple," from playwright Neil Simon, the story notes.

Murray, who started as a drummer in the Army Air Corps and the Glenn Miller Band, retired in 1986.
