Lifetime Continues to Scrap Programs — Casualty List Now Includes ‘Secret Lives of Wives’

Lifetime will not move forward with "The Secret Lives of Wives," a pilot starring Kim Raver of “Grey’s Anatomy” and based on a book of the same name by Iris Krasnow, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed.

The drama was set to look at the truth behind the marriages of four women: Michelle (played by Raver); Reed (Salli Richardson of “Criminal Minds”); Keaton (Amber Clayton of “Three Rivers”); and Jessie (Lauren Bittner of “Paranormal Activity 3”).

Lifetime ordered the pilot in July, a month after NBC ordered a drama from Jerry Bruckheimer with the similar title of "The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives." That project remains in contention at NBC.

Lifetime has been trimming its lineup lately, including canceling its signature series “Drop Dead Diva,” as previously reported, and scrapping a reboot of “Army Wives,” the piece notes.

The cable channel still has three drama pilots in contention: "Cinnamon Girl," "HR" and "Witches of East End."

  1. Contrary to what The Hollywood Reporter had in its story, Lifetime has NOT cancelled Army Wives. Indeed, a new season of Army Wives will start on Lifetime later this spring. To clarify, Lifetime has cancelled Drop Dead Diva (after four seasons, due to rising production costs, not ratings), and will continue Army Wives.
