The star of NBC’s "My Name Is Earl" will play the lead role in a new drama project at CBS. Deadline.com reports that “Earl’s” Jason Lee has been cast in the lead of the pilot "Second Sight.”

The series is based on a 2000 British series, and is said to be a gothic psychological thriller about a detective (Lee) who is hiding his ocular disorder that gives him anxiety dreams and hallucinations. “Told by his doctor that he will not go blind, he’s encouraged to think of the side effects as a gift — signposts from his subconscious,” the piece adds.

Lee’s role was played by Clive Owen in the British series.

The pilot is from Michael Cuesta and “CSI’s” Carol Mendelsohn.
