A fixture on NBC’s "Saturday Night Live" missed Saturday’s show because he recently suffered a broken hip, reports TMZ.com. Announcer Don Pardo is reportedly recovering and doing well.

Pardo has provided the voiceover for the show’s opening since “SNL” debuted in 1975, and has only missed one season, the piece notes. On Saturday the cast was announced by a replacement using an approximation of Pardo’s voice, but the difference was noticeable, the report notes.

Earlier in his career Pardo was the announcer for "The Price Is Right," "Jeopardy!" and other shows.

  1. Don Pardo is a television legend – having been an announcer almost from the beginning of NBC television. The fact that at 95-years-old, he is still relevant to the youthful audiences that follow Saturday Night Live says all you need to know about this Legend. We wish him all the best.
