E! Twitter Feed Gets Hacked — Leading to False Reports That Justin Bieber Is Gay and Something About Angelina Jolie and Syria

E! Online said its Twitter feed was hacked, with the culprits sending out false reports Saturday about Justin Bieber and Angelina Jolie, reports the Associated Press.

The Syrian Electronic Army claimed responsibility. The group has taken credit for a number of media attacks, including against the BBC, Al Jazeera English and the U.K.’s The Guardian, as well as the AP.

The report notes that the SEA sees its targets as sympathetic to Syrian rebels. One of the false tweets reportedly announced that Bieber is gay, while others indicated Jolie blames the crisis in Syria on Jordan. The Wall Street Journal has said the SEA supports Syrian President Bashar Assad, the San Francisco Examiner reports.

The same group was reportedly responsible for a false report last week that the White House had been bombed.

E! Online said it’s working with Twitter to solve the problem and is investigating.
