Why Dr. Drew Says He’s Done with ‘Celebrity Rehab’

Dr. Drew Pinsky said he’s done with his VH1 program "Celebrity Rehab" because the show is "very stressful and intense for me," reports EW.com’s Inside TV.

Pinsky, who spoke on a radio show, made the comments after five former “Celebrity Rehab” cast members have died, the most recent death being country star Mindy McCready earlier this year.

"To have people questioning my motives and taking aim at me because people get sick and die because they have a life-threatening disease, and I take the blame? Rodney King has a heart attack and I take blame for that?” he said.

Others who have died after appearing on the show are Jeff Conaway, Mike Starr and Joey Kovar.

  1. You wanna parade you ass in front of the cameras? You wanna take the credit and make the millions? Guess what, a-hole. When the high profile trainwrecks you attach your caboose to crash and burn…YOU TAKE THE BLAME

  2. Guilty by association, eh?

  3. Guilt by Reality TV. A rehab of any type should be in private and only with the ones that care about you, not the fish bowl of TV. Sure there may be many people who see you and want to help and there are a similar number that want to use you as an easy mark.

  4. These people didn’t die because they were on a TV show. They died because they had a chronic disease and their recovery is an ongoing process. Lots of recovering addicts die who are not on a TV show.
