An actor whose accolades include being named "Stoner of the Year" in 2007 is working with AMC on a drama project. The New York Post reports that the cable channel and actor-writer Seth Rogen are developing the 1990s comic book series “Preacher” into a drama series.

Rogen, who was named "Stoner of the Year" as part of the Stony Awards sponsored by High Times magazine, is writing the project, the story reports. Rogen surfaced on "Freaks and Geeks" and is known for his performances in films including "Knocked Up" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin." He has also been writing for television and film, and shared in an Emmy nomination as a writer on "Da Ali G Show."

The AMC project is about a Texas preacher who has lost his faith after learning that God has left heaven, the story says. With his ex-girlfriend and a friendly vampire by his side, he seeks to track God down.

Rogen will write and executive produce, along with Evan Goldberg, who served as his partner on films such as “Superbad,” the piece notes. Sam Catlin of “Breaking Bad” will be the showrunner.
