MTV has greenlit a bisexual dating show with a star who built her fame on MySpace.
“A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila” is scheduled to premiere on MTV Oct. 9.
The 10-episode series will feature contestants who want to win the heart of Ms. Tequila, who has more “friends” than anyone in the history of the online social network MySpace.com.
MTV says Ms. Tequila is a bisexual, which means the contestants on the show will be sixteen straight guys and sixteen lesbians.
“The finalists move into her mansion, live together, and each week Tila will narrow down her suitors. “Every episode will culminate in a dramatic ceremony unlike anything you’ve ever seen before,” according to the network.
“Tila Tequila made a name for herself by doing things her way, captivating legions of fans online, both men and women. Now she is taking that attitude and sex appeal to her own TV series where she is looking for a mate...by again, captivating a group of both men and women," said Tony DiSanto, executive VP of series development and programming for MTV. “The show is a rollercoaster ride of drama, conflict and emotion, busting stereotypes and challenging the norm—proving that the rules of attraction are made to be broken.”
“A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila” is produced by 495 Productions and MTV.

Concur with Mike. Instead of grasping further for the lower common demoninator, can't "reality" TV just go away...

Now that I think about it more, the type of people that enjoy watching reality TV and MTV are low-class wannabe hip hop types. So it makes total sense. Good job MTV.
But I also remember when MTV was cool to watch, and was actually about music and artists. Bad job MTV.
Posted by Mike | September 6, 2007 2:08 PM
And what does this have to do with Music? I thought MTV was Music Television...?
This is simply retarded. I laugh everytime some bimbo sets women's lib back ten places. Equal? I dont think so, never with this crap. Better for us men.

Outstanding. Now that MTV has ruined music, they can take on the car crash known as reality television and kill it too.
If only MTV would produce a show about politics. I would watch that show.

Television is about shaping your worldview.
They want you dysfunctional, sick, depressed, depandant, stupid, and materially oriented.
We are the soil, , our wants, needs, diseases, additions, etc are the plants.
Welcome to being dominated by the parasites of old.

The reason reality TV won't go away is because the 13-25 age group eats it up. And they're the group that idolizes and mimics that crap.
I stopped watching MTV 15 years ago. It just sucks.
Posted by MacDaddy | September 6, 2007 3:38 PM
MTV sold out 10-15 years ago. Its ratings were plummeting, so they decided to go after the bottom-of-the-barrel, lowest common denominator viewer, and they've succeeded.
I would love to see the day when MTV executives are put on trial for corrupting kids minds over the past decade. I'm a rather liberal person, but MTV shows the worst side of what America has to offer.
I'm sure original MTV VJ J.J. Jackson is turning in his grave.

Why does MTV continue to push a homosexual agenda??
Anytime I flip it on, its nothing but gays.
Posted by AT | September 6, 2007 3:45 PM
Apparently, MTV is still attempting to break every traditional value imaginable. For all of Viacom's wonderful intentions of world tolerance, one day we'll realize they've driven the our youth to irreparable moral decay. That day will not be a profitable one, but Mr. Redstone probably won't live to see it anyway.

Posted by tom richards | September 6, 2007 3:46 PM
This is absolutely disgusting. Why is MTV pushing this filth on our children? It would only be appropriate to put this tv show during the late hours of night when a child wouldn't be up watching this garbage.
I also believe MTV executives should be on trial and executed with the firing squad for pushing filth on our children from exposing them early to degenerate sexual behavior and pushing the gangsta rap "culture" on suburban White youths, which cause them to dress like these "rappers" and act like hooligans.
Posted by Disgusted | September 6, 2007 3:47 PM
All of you guys dissing Tila must either be gay or you're still virgins. How virtuous of you. It seems you automatically assume that because she's provocative and famous that she must be giving it away at every opportunity. Even if she did, who cares how many people she's been with?
When she was on Ted Nugent's show she actually seemed like a really cool person and was willing to work harder than all of those other guys and unlike them, she didn't complain once.
I for one look forward to hopefully seeing her make out with some other hot chicks very soon. If the main contestant was a guy, I could maybe understand this, but who doesn't want to see hot chicks kissing?!?
Posted by hagbardceline | September 6, 2007 3:54 PM
If this show's successful, next year they'll have 16 straight guys, 16 lezbos, 16 gay guys, 16 straight women. Then they'll have the aforementioned with 16 goats, 16 sheep and 24 people who are siblings. Sad part folks, there's an audience for this shiit, and they are called Democrats.

MTV HAS REALLY NEVER BEEN ABOUT FAMILY VALUES, MTV IS A MONEY MAKING MACHINE THAT SHOWS NO REGARDS TO WOMAN, MEN AND CHILDREN. THE SHOWS THAT ARE ON MTV NOW DEGRADE WOMAN, SHOW MEN SLEEPING WITH JUST ANY WOMAN, AND THE WOMAN HAS NO THOUGHT OR SELF RESPECT, KIDS ARE SUBJECTED TO SHOWS THAT ARE SEXUALLY AND FOUL AND ANTI FAMILY, THE ME ME ATTITUDE. I HOPE THAT MTV KNOWS AND THEY DO THAT MOST AMERICANS HAVE THEIR NUMBER, AND THE SPONSORS NEED TO KNOW THIS ALSO THE SPONSORS PAY THE BILLS FOR MTV PERIOD SO EVERY COMMERCIAL ON MTV THEY PAY MTV FOR THE AIR TIME, SO IF YOU WANT TO SEE SOME CHANGES START WITH THE SPONSORS, WE DONT NEED BIG BROTHER, OR THE GOVERMNET TO DO THIS WE CAN AS PARENTS, UNCLES, BROTHERS, FRIENDS. OR SIMPLY DONT WATCH AND THEY MTV WILL GET THE MESSAGE.WOMEN HAVE COME SO FAR IN EQUALITY, AFRICAN AMERICANS ALSO TO SEE MTV FULL OF MINDLESS GIRLS HAVING SEX WITH ANYTHING THAT WALKS, AND BLACK PEOPLE SHOWN AS GANGSTER RAP, AND BAD GUYS AND PLAYERS, AND PIMPS WITH BLACK WOMAN AGAIN DANCING TO ANYTHING THATS PLAYING AND BEING LOOKED UPON AS OBJECTS, HURTS ALL THAT PEOPLE HAVE STRUGGLED FOR YEARS TO OVERCOME. ITS TIME WE ALL TAKE BACK OUR AMERICA.

Wow. Why do they even call it MTV anymore when there is no M? I couldn't care less about a bisexual dating show on TV but MTV does cater mostly to kids. That I do care about. I'll make sure my kids don't get anywhere near this crap but unfortunately, a lot of parents don't care what their kids watch on TV. And MTV is 100% aware of this hence only having shows that make kids feel they are watching something they aren't supposed to which of course in their minds is very cool. Man I used to love MTV but now it may as well be PTV...with the P standing for predatory. And no, I haven't changed that much, MTV has.

I applaud Ms. Tequila and MTV for challenging social norms with this reality series. The best part is, it's on MTV so it will attract a mainstream audience. Sexuality is fluid and should never have to be labeled or categorized to make things easier for others. Why limit yourself? I can't wait for this series and I hope it is very successful. I read some of the comments above and many are filled with hate and close-minded. It's very disappointing to see that.
Posted by Joe | September 6, 2007 4:43 PM
Remember when MTV used to actually be about something? We used to crave for shows like "Headbangers Ball" and "Yo! MTV Raps", and even to some degree, "The Real World". Now, the once-meaningful channel is nothing more than cheap hook-ups and make-out sessions. Everyone loves T&A, but a little substance would be nice, too.

Posted by Natalie | September 6, 2007 4:56 PM
That's funny, I also read all of the comments above and saw nothing "filled with hate". If having the opinion that you don't agree with a network that markets strictly to kids showing dating shows filled with sexual situations (couldn't care less about the gay/bi angle) makes me "closed minded" then guilty as charged. BTW - playing the "hate" card is yesterday's news. It is now used towards anyone who doesn't agree with with a specific, narrow opinion. Man, I hate that. The word has been rendered completely meaningless to the majority of Americans.
Posted by Joe's Libido | September 6, 2007 4:59 PM

MTV is a pretty good example of what today's Democrat Party is all about - intellectually substandard, morally vacant, and anything but "entertaining." Like the Democrat Party itself, it is a national embarrassment.
Sure, it still holds some appeal with the prepubescent, pre-teen crowd and with fringe leftist liberals, but other than that it's basically a joke.

OK first, MTV is lame and has been ever since I had to watch that first Real World marathon with a buddy 15 years ago. Second, its not lame because they show gays, its lame because they don't have the music focus anymore. Third, I seriously think MTV is anti-gay. Otherwise they'd stop building upon the stereotypes and actually depict someone normal instead of the limp wrist panty-waist guys they have on there. This network is doing no one a favor except themselves. Fourth, its mindless drivel for people who must have a very pathetic existence of their own.
Posted by ja_594 | September 6, 2007 7:25 PM
The CEO of MTV is Sumner Redstone who changed his name from Murry Rothstein.
I don't know if he did so to protect Jews from an antisemitic backlash for the cultural destruction he was planning on doing, but if the shoe fits...
Sumner Redstone is fulfilling stereotypes right out of the protocols of zion.
Shame on him, and I urge the good jews out there to denounce him vocally.

MTV used to be awesome, music videos, cutting edge shows like 120 minutes, now its just a bunch of cheap LA produced shock stunts being aired in a time where shock has lost it's appeal.
Who could this show really interest? I am sorry homosexuality isn't that interesting, I can't find the real appeal.

It's funny that if anyone that finds this stuff to be rubbish, they are labeled anti-gay, well I am sorry, the average person doesn't hate someone because they are gay, they do hate people who try to force agendas down their throats under the shallow guise of "come on, be opened minded".
I think some gays need to grow the hell up and stop pushing for special rights and treatments, while they flirt with this mystical idea of somehow being elite because they choose to engage in sexual activity with their own gender.
Also, why would 16 straight males want to get with a Lesbian, if they were really Lesbians they wouldn't be interested at all in straight men.
I guess somehow the Lesbians are superior to the inferior and stupid white straight males.
We can all see where this retarded show is going.

Why is this country bent on grossing itself out by plumbing the depths of human behavior? What is MTV going to do next -- start a reality TV show for human beings that are intimate with their pets?!! Why are they making such filth? Does Mr. Sumner Redstone approve of this garbage, that is being done under the banner of his parent company? Doesn't he have any moral obligation to his company's shareholders, their kids and grandkids? Do we have to expose our teens and young adults to this nonsense, before their brains and attitudes have had a chance to fully develop and mature in a cohesive and cogent environment? How can this country retain its cutting edge over the world in science, arts and commerce if our young minds are going to be poisoned by such trash? What are the executives at Viacom doing? Didn't their MBA degrees teach them common sense and a modicum of civic responsibility? Don't blame the rappers alone for degrading values and expectations of young minds. They are at least not being hypocritical unlike these executives who behave holier than thou.
We can and MUST do better as a nation.

Just read an article that stated the suicide rate among preteen and young teen girls spiked 76 percent. Is there any correlation in a society that has rejected God, abandoned HIS truth and a country that is spiritually bankrupt? We have stripped our children of true joy and filled their souls and minds with lies and garbage.
Posted by Janice | September 6, 2007 9:34 PM
MTV will also be the first to show Gansta rape of a two year old and brand it as entertainment. They already show homosexual teenagers in the shower. I think Tila was on my friends list, but it is obvious I need to clean it up. I see no reason that the sex industry needed to go mainstream; somethings are better left in private. Myspace is also overhyped, I think I last logged in 2 months ago. Havn't missed it for sure.

First off, the only good Tequila is 100% Agave, not mixto myspace crap.
I agree with all of the above, except Tirah of course, who is probably Tila's half sister cousin trying to protect her inbred family member.
We can all sit here and complain about it, or we can go and submit a complaint to MTV, or our local news stations, or our cable stations. Maybe that will make a difference, but it will take many...
This entire nation and life we are experiencing in the US is turning out to be one big joke. I'm embarrassed to be an American, not proud, as I should be.

I see more against MTV new show then for it, again I would say to all the real Woman out here, I would like you to know that most people respect you as a equal no person can be greater without a great mom behind them to help them grow. God truly is the blessing of all of us he gave Women the ability to bring children in the world, a great honor you actually bring life into this world. Husbands, Fathers are here to protect their Wife and children, and to be a provider, I hear it over and over again a lot of stars, actors DO NOT ALLOW their kids to watch the garbadge on TV, I find it sad really the almighty dollar is the game here, MTV CEO would he like his children seeing women being used as play things, objects, people engageing in sex acts with each other, or strangers or with the same sex? seeing his children degraded in front of millions of people? what two adults do behind closed doors is their business period. MTV is not like the Playboy channel where you would expect to see this behavior/pay for it etc, MTV is a directly targeting CHILDREN, TEENS, to expose them to lifestyles that im sure they wouldnt do to their own kids, but its ok its your kids, its there mind being polluted, its your sister/daughter being used or your son being taught women arent special, same sex is or perverse lifestyle is okay, I know people dont like bible thumbers I get it, but at least acknowledge that a society that protects women, and children from decisions that can ruin their whole life, teenage prenancy, aids, abortion, viloence. I hope evryone decides to boycott MTV and their sponsors, Women, Men, Children, are not expendable America needs to look at itself, and decide do we really care about our kids, fellow Americans? Support what is honorable, go to school, value people, respect peoples choice, you are not the judge of their behavior, God is and I would say be kind but always be morally grounded. I pray for the unsaved all the time I dont know all of them but I believe God does, MTV CEO, and anyone who is a boss their you will be held accountable, and I will not support a station that degrades people period............
