AMC’s ‘Breaking Bad’ Breaks Not Bad
AMC’s new original series, “Breaking Bad,” opened with a 1.1 rating Sunday despite competition from the National Football League playoff game in which the New York Giants beat the Green Bay Packers in overtime.
While not as big an opening as the cable network’s Golden Globe-winning “Mad Men,” which premiered with a 1.3 rating last year, “Breaking Bad’s” ratings performance was 33% stronger than AMC’s season-to-date prime-time average. It also doubled the ratings among adults 18 to 49.
AMC said that after the NFL playoff game ended, ratings jumped, with its audience of 18- to 49-year-olds increasing 48% and men 18-34 gaining 90%.
