Endemol Gets ‘Buzzed’ With Metacafe

Production company Endemol USA is producing an online game show in partnership with popular video Web site Metacafe, the companies announced today.

The show, called “Buzzed,” will feature impromptu, man-on-the-street interviews with bar and nightclub patrons answering general-interest and pop culture trivia questions as they leave late-night hot spots around the country. Contestants also will have the opportunity to “drunk dial” a friend to help them answer one question.

The deal is the first of its kind for both parties. It underscores the eagerness of traditional production shops to create original, ad-supported content for broadband audiences.

The show is in pre-production and will launch this spring.

Endemol produces hit shows including “Deal or No Deal” and “Big Brother.”

Metacafe drew 5.6 million unique viewers in December, according to Nielsen Online. Metacafe’s internal numbers place the company at more than 28 million unique viewers each month.
