CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein has created two new programming positions and filled them with local news veterans.
Bart Feder will be a New York-based senior VP for current programming, reporting to Mr. Klein and effective immediately. In addition to overseeing all TV programming, Mr. Feder will coordinate efforts to distribute programming across multiple platforms, including CNN.com.
Mr. Feder succeeded Mr. Klein as chief executive of the FeedRoom, the video and digital distributor Mr. Klein founded. Before he joined the FeedRoom in 2000, Mr. Feder was an award-winning news director at WABC-TV in New York.
Scott Matthews, who has been VP and news director for Fox-owned WNYW-TV and WWOR-TV in the country’s largest TV market, will be director of programming based in Atlanta, reporting to Mr. Feder, starting Feb. 11.
Mr. Matthews will be responsible for the CNN/U.S. programming that originates from the news network’s headquarters.
“Both Bart and Scott are the perfect fit for CNN/U.S., as throughout their careers, each of them has emphasized in-depth reporting and innovative storytelling everywhere they’ve been,” Mr. Klein said in Tuesday’s announcement. “They’re going to play a major role in expanding upon the journalistic and ratings momentum under way at CNN.”
